Final Offer by Lauren Asher

What Is the Book Final Offer About?

The Final Offer is an exes-to-lovers book about Callahan (Cal) Kane and Allana (Lana) Castillo. The two were childhood friends who become a couple in their late teens/early twenties. Their relationship ended badly though after Lana found out about Cal's addiction to painkillers and alcohol. Six years later, Cal's grandfather stipulates that Cal must return to the house on Lake Wisteria where Lana currently resides, and sell it, in order to receive his inheritance. Once there though, Cal has to face the damage he caused Lana and the feelings he still harbors towards her, as well as the newfound love he has for her five-year-old daughter.

Can You Read Final Offer as a Standalone?

Lauren Asher Dreamland Billionaires Series Books in Order

Yes - you can read Final Offer as a standalone. However, it is meant to be read as part of the Dreamland Billionaire's series, so you'll miss out on some backstory that you're meant to have at that point. The official order to read the books in are as follows:

  1. The Fine Print - Rowan and Zahra

  2. Terms and Conditions - Declan and Iris

  3. Final Offer - Callahan and Allana

What are the Spicy Chapters in Final Offer?

If you're looking for the spicy chapters in Final Offer, head to chapters 32, 33, 34, 38, 39, 42, and 58. In my humble opinion, this book had the most and best smut in the Dreamland Billionarie's series.

How Old Are Cal and Lana?

In Final Offer, Cal is 33 years old while Lana is 29 years old. This means there is a four-year age gap between the two.

Does Final Offer Have a Happy Ending?

Yes - Final Offer by Lauren Asher has a happy ending! After Cal returns from rehab, he buys the Lake Wisteria house by finding a legal loophole that allows him to make an offer on behalf of a trust in Cami and his and Lana's future children's name. He also buys the property on Main Street and dares Lana to open her bakery - which she does soon after.

A few months later, after Cal gets his green chip from AA, the Kane brothers and their father, Seth, meet with their grandfather's lawyer one last time for a final letter from their grandfather, Brady. They find out that their father decided to get sober rather than apologize to his sons for the hurt he caused them. Brady's letter explains that this was the easy route and therefore, it's up to the brothers to decide if Seth deserves his shares in the company. As expected, they vote no.

One year later, Cal proposes to Lana and she says yes.

5 Books Like Final Offer by Lauren Asher

Whether you loved this book because of the exes-to-lovers/second chance trope or the parenthood trope, or you simply loved the Dreamland Billionaire series, the good news is that there are plenty of similar contemporary romance books out there to move on to next. To help you narrow down the search though, here are my top five recommendations for books like Final Offer by Lauren Asher:

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

1. Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

What I love about recommending Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score is that it's similar to Final Offer in some ways and totally different in others, which should help keep it fresh and interesting for you. Here's a short description that should highlight some of those similarities and differences: "Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, and no home with an 11-year-old niece she didn't know about to take care of. Her grumpy tattooed neighbor, Knox, doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, but since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, he's willing to help her out of her jam and then get back to his peaceful, solitary life. At least, that was the plan..."

Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

2. Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

How do you feel about another exes-to-lovers book that comes highly rated (4.34/5 stars) by over 300,000 people on Goodreads? Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren is "told in alternating timelines between Then and Now, teenage Elliot and Macy grow from friends to much more. As adults, they have become strangers to one another until their chance reunion. Although their memories are obscured by the agony of what happened that night so many years ago, Elliot will come to understand the truth behind Macy’s decade-long silence, and will have to overcome the past and himself to revive her faith in the possibility of an all-consuming love."

Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover

3. Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover

Did the Lana and Cami part of Final Offer pull at your heartstrings? If it did and you're okay with signing up for a good cry, then Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover might be worth checking out. Like Final Offer, this book is about a mother-daughter relationship and even though their circumstances are totally different, it still reminds me of a lot of Lana and Cami. Here's the idea of what it's about: Five years ago Kenna Rowan was sent to prison after a tragic accident that killed her boyfriend. In prison, she gave birth to their baby girl. Since then, her daughter has been raised by her boyfriend's parents, but now that she's out, she wants to meet her daughter and earn everyone's forgiveness. No one is willing to give it to her though, or let her near her daughter - except Ledger Ward after he finds out the truth Kenna has been hiding all these years.

4. Every Summer After by Carley Fortune

Takes place on a lake? Check. Childhood friends turned lovers turned strangers? Check. These are just a few of the similarities that caught my eye when I found Every Summer After by Carley Fortune as I was hunting for books like Final Offer. As Goodreads reviewer, Nilufer Ozmekik, put it: "This book effectively blends betrayal, longing, lies, secrets, anxiety issues, and grief with well-developed character and truly well-written angsty tear-jerker! The 12-year-long story is perfectly told by moving us back and forth between past and present to understand more about the mistakes, resentments, and unresolved issues between the two lovers."

Twisted Love by Ana Huang

5. Twisted Love by Ana Huang

If you're someone who loves book series as much as I do and hasn't read the Twisted series yet, then I'd highly consider starting Twisted Love by Ana Huang next. Like the Dreamland Billionaire's series where each book focuses on a different brother's love story, each book in the Twisted series focuses on one girl in a friend group and her love story. Also, the main male character in Twisted Love, Alex, reminds me a lot of Cal, as both characters end up having to fight to get their women back in the end by putting in the hard work.
