There isn't a BookTok recommendation video or list of Christmas romance books this year that doesn't include A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone. (Kindle | Kobo | Paperback)

I mean, you can't deny it, the book's premise is totally unique and refreshing. After all, a spicy holiday-themed romance between an ex-boy band member with a bad reputation and a plus-size adult film star who wants to become an actress isn't something you see every day.

A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone

What Is the Book A Merry Little Meet Cute About?

Before Bee Hobbes ever had a ClosedDoor account or took a role in an adult film, she wanted to be an actress. So, when she gets offered the lead role in a mainstream Christmas rom-com, she jumps at the chance. The one caveat though is that no one can find out she's an adult film star and to keep that secret from getting out, she has to be on her best behavior. It seems easy enough until she discovers that her co-star is none other than the ex-boy band member and certified bad boy, Nolan Shaw. Once that happens, it doesn't take long for things on the set of their family-friendly movie to go from PG to R-rated.

Does A Merry Little Meet Cute Have a Happy Ending?

Yes - A Merry Little Meet Cute does have a happy ending! The entire book you're waiting for the shoe to drop and for everyone to find out about Bee and Teddy's careers in the adult entertainment industry, and when it does it's messy but everything works out just like it would in a cheery Christmas movie.

Out of fear for his livelihood, Nolan releases a formal statement saying he has no knowledge and does not condone Bee's past, which as you would expect, devastates her. However, he quickly regrets this decision and sets up an interview with the gossip reporter, Dominic, to set the record straight and tell Bee he loves her. As Bee is watching the interview on TV, Nolan shows up at her childhood home to tell her that again in person.

In the epilogue (set seven months after the final chapter), Bee and Nolan buy a home together and are still happily in love. Their movie, Duke the Halls, is a success after its release and a sequel is set to be produced by Teddy. In addition to the sequel, Nolan is offered a job as a reality show judge and Bee receives another mainstream role.

5 Books Like A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone

Whether it was the forbidden romance between costars, the plus-size heroine, the spicy chapters, or the sex-positive characters that you liked, here are five books like A Merry Little Meet Cute that have one or more of those aspects.

You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria

1. You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria

Listen to this description of Alexis Doria's, You Had Me At Hola, and tell me the characters don't sound similar to Nolan and Bee in A Merry Little Meet Cute: Jasmine needs the romantic comedy to salvage her image from a messy public breakup, while Ashton needs it to revive his failing career. Neither has any intention of falling for their co-star and yet, that's exactly what happens when the two meet on set.

Dipped in Holly by Dana Isaly

2. Dipped in Holly by Dana Isaly

Was your favorite part of A Merry Little Meet Cute the spicy parts? If so, you're going to love Dipped in Holly which is basically just one big spicy chapter with a few Christmas elements such as a sexy Mrs. Claus costume and a strand of twinkle lights used for some light bondage thrown in here and there. It's a fun, sexy read that will take you no longer than an hour and a bit to read.

All the Feels by Olivia Dade

3. All the Feels by Olivia Dade

Like A Merry Little Meet Cute, Olivia Dade's book, All the Feels, is led by a plus-size heroine and takes place in the entertainment industry. Here's the premise: Alexander is the star of a major TV show but when he gets into a bar fight, his reputation needs damage control. Enter, Lauren, whose been hired to help with that and keep him in line. Of course, as the two get to know each other, their relationship evolves into something way beyond professional.

The Roommate by Rosie Danan

4. The Roommate by Rosie Danan

If you're looking to read another book like A Merry Little Meet Cute which features a main character who works in the adult entertainment industry, then The Roommate by Rosie Danan is the way to go. As the name of the book suggests, it's about two roommates, Clara and Josh. As one GoodReads reviewer put it, "Josh is an absolute sweetheart of a hero, if incredibly horny (I mean, he IS a porn star) and Clara is adorably awkward. I love the roommate's trope but throw in the great sex/sex worker positivity."

While We Were Dating by Jasmine Guillory

5. While We Were Dating by Jasmine Guillory

The main characters of While We Were Dating might not be co-stars but still, something about them reminds me of Bee and Nolan's relationship in A Merry Little Meet Cute. The book starts when Ben lands an ad campaign featuring the gorgeous movie star, Anna Gardiner. Neither Ben nor Anna expect it to be anything more than a job, but as their chemistry and their connection build over time, it becomes something neither of them can deny.
